PeacePlayers International & The Covello Foundation Partner to Support South African Girls

Thanks to all of your support and contributions, The Covello Foundation is proud to announce a year-long partnership with PeacePlayers International in Durban, South Africa in 2016.

PeacePlayers International – South Africa (PPI-SA),  was established in 2001 to foster peaceful coexistence, while providing a positive extracurricular outlet and leadership opportunities for youth from disadvantaged communities.

The Covello Foundation grant will utilize basketball to empower, unite, and educate 200 South African girls. PeacePlayers International's unique curriculum engages women with mentors that foster self-esteem, leadership, and education through sports.

One of the goals of The Covello Foundation has been to support young women through sports. Throughout Jerry Covello's life, he encouraged both of his daughters, Christina and Stephanie, to participate in sports in order to help develop self-esteem, leadership, and character. Jerry believed that athletics provided a level playing field and a critical learning experience for all youth. The Foundation is thrilled to extend his legacy to youth internationally.

Keep an eye out for more ways in which the Covello Foundation is impacting youth athletics in your community - and ways to get in the game!

Thank you for your continued support,

The Covello Foundation
